More Cats...

...or A day with a digital camera and two cats

My friend Martin lend me his digital camera for some days, and of course I had to do some catscans. 07220001

This image was created just when I managed to activate the camera for the first time. That hairy piece of leg is mine (yuck ;-). This is Pucky in his Ain't I cute position. You should have to see this from the belly side, but I think it's clear from this position too. Also, it's clear to see that I'm a slob.

Here's another shot of Pucky in his I'm so cute position. Take note of how much of the bed's lenght he's really using in the left photo. That's more than a 3rd of a 2 meter bed! This is the first shot where you can see what a giant cat Pucky really is.

The image to the right was taken just some seconds later when he decided that I'm of no interest at all and kept on doing what he does best besides of being cute and eating. Sleeping. Btw, he snores.

If you didn't believe me that Pucky is huge, that image should make it clear. That garbage bucket where he's standing in front of, is the usual knee high 25l version.

On the other side, you have him sitting in front of that large vase, with the bucket still visible at the border.

Having the top balcony door open, Mouse couldn't stay hidden for long. Here she's just looking at what's happening at our neighbours balcony right beside ours. For her, that's an especially interesting spot, since it's forbidden and it's a place where Pucky has no access to (he doesn't manage to jump onto the railing).

Since I'm just calling her name, of course Pucky is washing himself, as it's what neurotic cats do all the time anyways ;-)

Now, while Pucky is inspecting Mouse, Mouse is inspecting the weeds that grow between the tiles on the balcony floor. Since the weeds aren't poisonous we don't have to grow special cat grass for them.

And here's that special moment Mouse notices the the birds are circling above the house. Ain't she gorgeous, my little killer? She's actually more on the thin side, but outside she's all fluffy.

I have no idea what took Puckies attention here, but I found it so cute how he's looking over that border. On the first shot, Mouse is still tracking birds, but on the second shot she's not interested at all in what he's doing there.

Finally, they're back inside doing their thing. That image on the left shows how Mouse usually greets me in the morning or when I come home from work. Just today I drove with a cab driver that stated that cats prefer to be on their own and usually want to be left alone. These people know nothing.

YiiieeeHA! I bought myself a digital camera. Now I'm a proud owner of a Toshiba PDR-M4. Here are my first pathetic shots.

These are taken in the macro-mode, without flashlight, only soft indirect lighting in through a lamp in the corner of the room.

I know, I know, two of these are quite identical, but I couldn't decide which one to take. These images are all postprocessed with the Gimp. All 3 have run through the normalize filter, the last one got an additional bit of Filterpack applied. I'm not sure if it got a bit too greenish by that. Well, I'm just starting to learn about that photo stuff... What I'm really happy about is how detailed the fur came out in that rather bad lighting, and even after scaling the images down from 1600x1200 to 640x480 it works.

Now ain't he a heartbreaker? Who would believe that he'd lie there on your lap, sleeping for an hour, then wake up, look at you, grab your wrist and cheerfully bite you for just nothing?!? Aren't they just loveable? Btw, he also does that to you in the middle of the night when your're asleep.

Big time fun is it when he and Maus have trouble. She's sitting in front of him, all furious, tail big as my arm. He, on the other hand, is just sitting there, looking down on here, tail not even moving, just lying flat on the ground, like a belt. Kerstin sometimes called him the Hannibal Lecter of cats for behaving like that. I really wonder where and how he lived before we got him.
