Building a house...
Our first visit to the site, Sat Oct 27, 2001
Since last week the construction work has begun. Right now, it's only just a hole with delimiting boards between the different parcells. Our row is the last of 5 that is built at the site and we're really looking forward to see it progress.
Well now, isn't that little construction machine a cutie? At this stage, the upper ground layer has been removed and put aside. The ground is flattned and put into parcells.
As you can see, the view to the back of the house is completely green. We've already seen some cats in the area and are looking forward to letting ours leave the house too.
The ground along the parcells is sloping downwards. I'm interested in what consequences that'll have for our garden.
The second visit to the site, Sun Nov 04, 2001
Here, the concrete base is just being created.
The height difference to our neighbours to the left troubles me even more than to the right, since that's nearly a man's height.
The iron grid will be the foundation for the basement floor. I guess that's finished by the time we visit the site again.
Here you see our neighbours houses to the left. These are identically constructed as ours, so this back view will be more or less identical to ours. We have two options for the stairs into the garden, but we opted for leaving that stairs away, since we found it by far too big and massive. It spoils the view and keeps the light from the working room that we'll have in the basement.
